Hello and welcome to my personal site. Here you can find out about who I am and what I do. And if you wish to contact me, feel free to drop me a line.
I have been interested in languages and how languages work for as long as I can remember. For most of my career, I have worked as a linguist at various universities in research and teaching.
My main research focus is on syntax and theoretical linguistics, and on the connections between syntax, morphology and phonology. Downloadable versions of some of my work can be found here.
I started programming when I was 11, originally on my parents' computer, which had its own BASIC version. Later I tried out the hot programming languages of the time, such as C, Pascal, Prolog and several others that I have forgotten about. I eventually started using the Emacs text editor and learnt Lisp.
Although Emacs Lisp is my go-to language at the moment, I still enjoy learing new programming languages and programming techniques. I enjoy writing Clojure and Python, which I'm currently exploring more in-depth, and I'm always looking forward to my next learning project.
I am also familiar with HTML and CSS (this website is hand-crafted) and Javascript is high on my todo list. (More on that soon.)
Some more information about my open-source projects is available here.
